PATH Reusable Water Bottles are Made in the USA: Better for the Planet and the Economy

We’re thrilled about PATH’s fifth limited-edition aluminum bottle launch to promote made in the U.S.A. and sustainability. The more companies produce domestically, the more American manufacturing jobs are sustained. Currently, the U.S. manufacturing sector employs nearly 13 million American workers, which accounts for about 10.3% of GDP.

To contribute to the workforce and support local economies, all PATH bottles are made in the USA. When we source locally, it means shorter, more reliable supply chains, and U.S. suppliers of aluminum, filters, and packaging benefit directly. This is why using local water and materials means higher quality standards and more resilient logistics.

Economic impact of domestic production

When companies invest in American manufacturing, the benefits go beyond the factory. According to the National Association of Manufacturers, every dollar spent in manufacturing generates approximately $2.64 in overall economic activity. This multiplier effect makes manufacturing one of the biggest contributors to the U.S. economy. PATH bottles and packaging mean every purchase is fueling a broader ecosystem of American jobs, suppliers, and local economies.

Domestic manufacturing momentum is part of a larger reshoring trend. In 2022 alone, approximately 360,000 manufacturing jobs were announced as returning to the U.S. or newly created through foreign investment, a 53% increase from the prior year. According to a recent reshoring survey, nearly 7 in 10 U.S. manufacturers are actively bringing their supply chains back onshore, with 94% reporting success in doing so.

PATH’s bottles are a timely example of embracing domestic production for their resilience, quality, and broader contribution to economic stability.

Environmental and supply-chain benefits

Bottled water often travels farther than people realize. Around 25% of bottled water is shipped across borders, contributing to unnecessary transport emissions and packaging waste. In some cases, water travels thousands of miles, such as bottles shipped from Finland to Saudi Arabia or from Fiji to the United Kingdom, just to reach store shelves in the U.S.. PATH takes a different route, sourcing, purifying, and bottling its water entirely in the United States. PATH eliminates these “water miles” and significantly reduces the emissions tied to long-haul shipping.

This domestic footprint matters. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, transportation accounts for nearly 29% of the country’s total greenhouse gas emissions, with freight trucks and air cargo among the biggest contributors. PATH’s Made in U.S.A. supply chain shortens the distance between production and retail. Bottles, caps, labels, and pallets are produced and distributed regionally, requiring less fuel and generating fewer carbon emissions compared to imported bottled water or overseas-manufactured plastic containers.

Then there’s the PATH bottle itself, which is made from durable, refillable aluminum and is designed to be used again and again. Unlike single-use, the sturdy aluminum used for PATH bottles can be infinitely reused and eventually recycled.

PATH is building economic resilience and environmental sustainability through domestic manufacturing and reuse. PATH is reinforcing its commitment to partners, retailers, and people by supporting local jobs, reducing emissions, and meeting consumer trends.
